Community Outreach Department
The Community Outreach Department educates, empowers, engages, and supports parents so that they may be actively involved in their children’s education. We develop and expand partnerships to support students, families, and schools to ensure that students graduate with the skills necessary to succeed in college and the 21st Century workforce.
How We Directly Support Schools
- Provide professional development, technical assistance and direct services to increase parent/community engagement and involvement
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
- Deliver social work and related support services to “at risk” students and their families
Our Core Services
- Providing parent education and information programs that include Parent University, Advancing Early Literacy for Parents, PIRC (Parent Information & Resource Center), and PCHP (Parent Child Home Program)
- Serving as the liaison to and for parents (responding to parent concerns)
- Engaging stakeholders via roundtables (the Parent Roundtable, Inter-faith Community Roundtable, and the Literacy Roundtable)
- Leading legislative and community advocacy
- Managing and disbursing the Children-in-Crisis fund
- Recruiting and training volunteers
- Leading the district's Diversity and Employee Wellness Initiatives
