General Transportation Information & Reminders
Parents are responsible for their child's safety to and from the bus stop. All students are asked to be at the bus stops ten minutes before the schedule pick-up times.
Stops are established in accordance with South Carolina State Department Rules and Regulations. Stops are placed up to one half mile from a child's home. No stops are scheduled within 1.5 miles of the school unless it is predetermined to be hazardous for walk-in students. Drivers are only allowed to make stops listed on the route sheets. Parents or students should not request drivers to pick-up or drop-off at unauthorized stops.
When requesting a pick-up for a special needs student, parents/guardians must go to the student's school to complete required paperwork. Transportation will not be provided to special needs students without the proper paperwork.

Procedures for Transportation Requests
Partial Magnet Schools
When requesting transportation for a partial magnet school, you will need to contact the school principal. Once Transportation receives the request, the office will notify the parent/guardian of the bus information. Transportation will not be provided without the principal's approval. Please note that there is no transportation provided to St. Andrews Middle or West Ashley Middle schools from the C.E. Williams attendance zone.
No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
When requesting transportation for a NCLB student, your child must be enrolled in the NCLB program with the Title I office. If your child is not enrolled please call Kamala McPherson at 937-6570. If you child is enrolled, please call Mike Hamel at 745-7084. Transportation will not be provided without the required paperwork and approval from the Title I office. Transportation will call the parent/guardian to notify them of the bus information, and this can take up to three business days.
Special Needs
Special Needs transportation decisions are made by the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team based on student need. The transportation form is completed during the IEP team by the student's case manager and is signed by the principal. The form is then submitted to the Office of Exceptional Children (OEC) Coordinator for approval and then sent to the Transportation office. At that time, the student will be routed on a bus. Transportation will contact the parent/guardian to notify them of the bus information, and this can take up to three business days. Transportation will not be completed without the proper paperwork.
